This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly visible, hands-on construction leader with utility-scale solar experience who thrives in fast-paced project environments and enjoys leading large field teams, driving project execution, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering complex renewable energy projects on schedule and within budget.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting into Project Leadership, the Construction Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring all site construction activities associated with a major utility-scale solar project located in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the project leadership team and will oversee project execution, field operations, subcontractor coordination, workforce planning, scheduling, safety performance, quality compliance, production tracking, and overall construction delivery.
This role requires a strong field presence, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate multiple stakeholders while ensuring compliance with EPC industry best practices, OSHA regulations, project specifications, QA/QC standards, and contractual obligations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Leadership & Construction Execution
- Lead day-to-day construction activities for a large-scale utility solar project
- Develop and execute construction strategies, work plans, schedules, and resource allocation plans
- Support the Project Manager in achieving project milestones, commissioning readiness, and overall project objectives
- Coordinate and direct Superintendents, Foremen, Project Engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel
- Monitor project progress, productivity, labor utilization, equipment performance, and cost allocation
- Drive project execution while maintaining schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives
Scheduling, Planning & Cost Control
- Review project contracts, technical specifications, budgets, and construction documentation
- Support project scheduling activities utilizing MS Project, Primavera P6, and related planning tools
- Assist with forecasting, re-budgeting, and project performance analysis
- Monitor production quantities, labor hours, equipment utilization, and project expenditures
- Identify schedule risks, cost impacts, and execution challenges while implementing mitigation strategies
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety-first culture throughout all project activities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, HSE programs, project safety plans, and site procedures
- Support QA/QC programs and ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards
- Participate in audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and operational performance
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop field personnel while promoting accountability and technical growth
- Foster strong collaboration between construction, engineering, procurement, logistics, and project management teams
- Coordinate equipment deliveries, material management, inventory control, and site logistics
- Maintain regular communication with project leadership regarding project status, risks, and resource requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5+ years of Construction Management experience supporting utility-scale Solar PV and/or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects
- Strong hands-on construction leadership experience within EPC project environments
- Utility-scale solar construction experience is required
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, workforce planning, field execution, and construction operations
- OSHA 30 Certification required (OSHA 10 acceptable for onboarding)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Microsoft Project
- Primavera P6
- AutoCAD
- Bluebeam
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background
- NCCER, PMP, or other industry-recognized certifications
- Experience utilizing:
- Procore
- BIM 360
- SAP
- Other EPC project management systems
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Target Compensation: $140,000+ (flexible for exceptional candidates)
- $120/day Per Diem (7 days per week while on-site)
- Company vehicle provided while assigned to the project site
