Company Description

Uplift Microhome is a Austin-based startup founded by former SpaceX and Tesla engineers, specializing in the development of transitional housing. The company designs and manufactures forklift-deployable, battery-powered microhomes that are utility-independent, featuring solar panels, onboard water systems, HVAC, and battery storage. These innovative homes are ready to use upon deployment, requiring no external hookups or infrastructure. Winner of the 2026 MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition, Uplift Microhome is currently scaling the team and developing more sophisticated prototypes.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Builder located in the Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area. The Builder will construct and assemble microhomes, ensuring structural integrity, energy efficiency, and adherence to design specifications. Additional responsibilities include operating tools and machinery, troubleshooting and resolving construction challenges, and working closely with the engineering team to refine manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Experience with construction techniques, assembly, and the operation of tools and machinery
• Strong understanding of structural integrity, build processes, and safety protocols
• Ability to read and interpret design specifications, blueprints, or technical drawings
• Knowledge of modern sustainable building technologies, including solar and HVAC systems
• Problem-solving skills and ability to quickly adapt to dynamic work environments
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering and design teams
